1. Introduction

FireFolio ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our financial independence planning Service, including calculators, Journal content, persona stories, and authenticated portfolio tools.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

Name and email address
Authentication credentials and session data managed by our identity provider
Account preferences such as display settings

2.2 Planning and Portfolio Data

Inputs you enter into FIRE planners and calculators (for example income, expenses, savings, and return assumptions)
Portfolio preferences and other planning data you choose to save in your account
Broker connection details and related account metadata you authorize us to access through supported integrations

2.3 Usage Data

IP address and device information
Browser type and version
Pages visited and features used
Time and date of visits
Referring websites
Log and diagnostic data collected by our hosting and infrastructure providers

2.4 Optional Journal and Calculator Measurement

Measurement is off by default. If you allow it using the control on a Journal or calculator page, we count content views and calculator interactions such as changing an input, viewing a result, or opening a related tool. We also count clicks on broker sign-up links by broker name only. The event payload contains only a known content label and event name. Our metrics table stores daily aggregate counts, with no account identifiers, IP addresses, financial inputs, securities symbols, or full browsing URLs.

We store your choice and the last Journal visit day in this browser, and use temporary tab storage to avoid repeat counts. This lets us count returns on later days without assigning a visitor identifier. You can turn measurement off using the same control; doing so clears this browser’s Journal and calculator measurement state. Existing aggregate counts cannot be linked back to you or individually removed. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals disable this measurement. Hosting providers may separately process request metadata as described under usage data above.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
Authenticate users and secure accounts
Save and sync your planning inputs and preferences
Connect to brokers and other services you authorize
Send administrative notices related to your account or the Service
Provide customer support
Analyze aggregate usage and improve the Service
Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents
Comply with legal obligations

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:

With your consent or at your direction
With service providers who help us operate the Service (for example hosting, authentication, email, and analytics vendors), subject to confidentiality obligations
With brokers or third-party platforms when you initiate a connection or request
To comply with law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
To protect the rights, property, or safety of FireFolio, our users, or others
In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction

5. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third parties for authentication, hosting, and optional broker integrations. Those providers process information according to their own privacy policies. When you connect a broker or other external account, you authorize the exchange of information needed to provide that integration. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites or services you access through FireFolio.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and meet legal, tax, or accounting requirements. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as security logs. Aggregate Journal metrics that cannot be linked to an individual, including calculator metrics, may be retained indefinitely.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Correct inaccurate personal information
Request deletion of your personal information
Object to or restrict certain processing
Export a copy of your data in a portable format
Opt out of marketing communications
Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, including Journal measurement

To exercise these rights, contact support. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. Some rights may be limited where we have a legal obligation or legitimate interest to retain information.

9. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, maintain security, and understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may limit features of the Service. Optional Journal measurement uses browser storage as described in section 2.4 and respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals.

10. International Transfers

We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. Those locations may have different data-protection laws than your home jurisdiction. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in these locations.

11. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact support.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be communicated by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
